Read the Room

We had a new center today! It is called 'Read the Room'. Students were asked to search for words around the room that matched the pictures on their clipboards. They used glasses of course because that just made it much more exciting!

LGT

Update on our LGT garden...

We now have flowers growing on the purple pole beans, peas, and the cucumber plants.

We have mostly male flowers on the cucumber plant and one female! The female carries the cucumber. Our female to male cucumber ratio is very similar to our girls to boys ratio in kindergarten! HA!

This is the female flower... carrying the cucumber. This is an interesting conversation in kindergarten!

This is a male cucumber plant.

This is a pea plant.

Hibernation!

The student's inquiry into hibernation has begun. We made caves using paper and a tarp. We also discussed what animals hibernate. Ask your child!

What do bears eat before they go to sleep?
Blueberries of course!

What happens to creatures if they don't hibernate?

They freeze!!

Worm Factory

The worms are doing well in our worm factory (vermicompost). They are into their Feed Number 2 now. Students have probably been asking to bring in their table scraps. We do have enough right now, we will need more in 10 days!

The food we left 10 days ago has been eaten by the worms! Fertilized soil has been left in its place.

We pet the worms from time to time:)

Dinosaur

Here are some more pictures from our dinosaur inquiry!

The students created a large dinosaur for our classroom display, if you are in the room check it out!

They created dinosaur fossils using clay.

They became archaeologist and uncovered 'dinosaur bones'.
