The learning continues in Kindergarten with some new doctors in the class, recreating the nursery rhyme 'Humpty Dumpty', manipulating numbers to 10, inquiry into bones and healthy bodies, measuring tall, short and long, and lastly 3D shapes. This month the excitement will continue as we dive into Christmas activities. We are currently learning about Christmas symbols. Students will discuss The Christmas Story and Hanukkah this week.
Introduce a little gauze to the play center and watch them explore!
"What is your name?" It is important to check your patient in at reception before seeing the doctor:)
We have been learning about "Humpty Dumpty". We decided to retell the nursery rhyme using blocks and an egg. Students got into groups and were asked to build a wall for Humpty.
We read the story "10 Black Dots". Students created their own pictures using 10 block dots (buttons), white board markers and white boards. Students made trains, cars, trees, rain, etc.
Fossil Dig.
I asked the students if they thought the bones were from a dinosaur or a moose. They all said dinosaur. They were disappointed to learn it was a moose.
Students were learning what the role of a dentist is. Some decided that a dentist job was to pull your teeth out.
This tooth is 2 cubes tall.
3D Shape Hunt!
Students were asked to search for 3D shapes. Students are not required to know the names of the 3D shapes but know that everyday items we use are 3D shapes like; a can shape, a ball shape, and a box shape. Students should also talk about if the 3D shape can roll or slide.
