Vermicompost

The vermicompost, which is a worm compost, is finally underway. The 'red wigglers' should arrive this week! They are called the red wigglers because when they are out of their environment they are VERY wiggly! Stay tuned!

To prepare for the worms we had to make a 'worm bed' in our collecting trays. The trays have a worm ladder in case the worms fall through.

Checking the spout. All good!

The tray needed dry newspapers on the bottom.

A LGT update!

Our garden is growing. We finally have purple flowers on our purple pole beans! Ask your child what comes after the flower?

Read to others

As part of our daily routine we read to self or read to others. Students use their baggie books for this activity. When reading to others they read 'shoulder to shoulder, elbow to elbow, hip to hip'. They learn to read from each others encouragement!

'Stone' Men

The snow has arrived so we started to decorate our classroom for winter! Students have been painting pictures of snowmen. We read the book The Biggest Snowman Ever and figured out how to take a small snowball and turn it into a large snowball for a good base!

We also painted rocks and made 'stone' men.

Jurassic Park

There were three dinosaurs donated to our classroom, the students have been playing with them ever since! They are creating their own Jurassic Park adventure land. This barrier wall prevents the dinosaurs from getting loose.
