LGT

Little Green Thumbs has started! We planted the seeds in pods about two weeks ago and now they have grown bigger than their dome! We will re plant them this week in bigger containers.
We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peas and purple pole beans.

Here a student is measuring water amount.

They had to poke a hole with their finger in the pods

Science Buddies (Structures)

The Science Buddies teamed up for another inquiry based project. This time they had two pieces of newspaper and about two meters of tape. Once their materials was used up, they were not allowed to have any extra.

The goal was to build a structure/tower that could hold a ball and withstand 'wind' (a fan)

Gingerbread Day!

The gingerbread men ran away! They left some clues to find him though!

Carefully bringing the can of gingerbread men back to class!

Yes! It's the gingerbread men, we had to be careful they didn't run away again!

Santa's Workshop

Christmas is just around the corner. The kindergartens have been working hard to create a Santa's Workshop for their dramatic play area. The fire place they helped design is on display in the front entrance of the school.

The finished product! The students have been creating toys in the workshop. A group of students designed a flashlight in Santa's Workshop.

This is the flashlight!! Isn't it the coolest?

Magic Tree

Science Experiment!
The Magic Tree

A student ordered a science kit from the Scholastic book order and naturally we had to play with it right away!!

The students created snow on a paper tree! The experiment said it would take one day to see the snow but it only took 30 minutes. It was pretty exciting!

The students also created 'snow' in a test tube! They wondered what would happen if you add more water to the snow. They discovered 'slush'!

Restaurant!

The students have opened up a store, that sometimes turns into a restaurant and many other things!

Students used small note books to take 'orders'. They also put up 'sale' signs as well. It was great practice for writing numbers!

Can I buy a piece of corn??

EXPENSIVE CORN!!

3D shapes

3D SHAPES

Students have done very well with 2D shapes and even better with 3D shapes. 3D shapes have some hard names for us to remember but we are getting there! When you are out and about with your child go on a 3D shape hunt, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what you hear!

Below is the result of our 3D shape hunt in the classroom!

Students found objects such as ...

Cylinder - crayons, pencils, glue stick,  and a glass of juice
Sphere - ball and pom poms
Rectangular prism - tissue box, zip lock baggies, and Lego block
Cone - ice cream cone and pylon
Cube - dice, blocks and sight word cube
